Hyundai Bayon | Everything You Need to Know

The Hyundai Bayon has been launched at Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom), while deliveries are still underway. Hyundai has somehow positioned the Bayon between the Hyundai Venue and the Creta. So, if someone wants to buy an SUV-ish car but does not have the money for it, you can consider the Bayon, given the fact that it costs somewhat similarly to the latter.

The Bayon has been launched to rival the likes of an undefined segment under which stands the Maruti Suzuki Victoris. The launch of the Bayon has also been cited as a marketing strategy to build the hype for the upcoming Hyundai Creta, which will boast a similar 2600 mm wheelbase as the Bayon and the same features like the Level 2 ADAS Pro and Dash Boost Mode, among others.

Power & Transmission

  • Under its hood, the supposed Kia Seltos rival boasts a 1.5-litre NA petrol engine producing 115hp and 144Nm of peak torque while paired to a 6-speed manual and a CVT gearbox.

  • The CVT transmission offers a company-claimed mileage of kmpl.

  • We also get to see a new Dash Boost Mode, which gives an instantaneous power boost while overtaking, as per Hyundai.

  • Hyundai is also set to introduce a CNG and an electric version of the Bayon early next year.

Interior and Features

  • The Interior of the bayon resembles the likes of the Brazilian spec i20, revealed a few months back.

  • We get to see two 12.5-inch screens upfront, while the AC controls are housed vertically just beneath the infotainment cluster. The steering wheel also gets its fair share of tactile buttons.

  • We also get to see a standalone pod for the driver mode selector offering 3 drive modes: Eco, Normal and Sport.

  • Other features include ventilated seats, a powered driver seat, a Bose sound system, wireless charger, ambient lights, rear AC vents and charging ports, a sunroof, a Generative AI assistant powered by Perplexity AI, and 2-step reclining rear seats.

Given that the Hyundai Bayon is 4.2 meters and also offers a dynamic boot space of 508liters compared to the Creta’s 433 liters, we can expect that the next-gen Hyundai Creta will be longer than the Bayon, which also indicates that it might also boast a higher price tag compared to the current-generation facelift.
