Hyundai Inaugurates Pune Manufacturing Plant
Hyundai India has recently inaugurated their Pune manufacturing plant which will now contribute to the ever-increasing demand of the Koren automaker in India.

For the last 20 years, Hyundai has been serving the Indian audience with its top-of-the-line products, from the Hyundai Santro to its latest offering, the nth version of the Creta (pun intended; India happens to be the lowest priority in passenger vehicles for Hyundai). With that said, the Korean giant has inaugurated its manufacturing facility in Talegaon, Pune.
This inauguration simply marks the brand's expansion plans and Phase I of the brand's Rs 11,000 crore investment in India. With this, Hyundai also plans to increase its domestic vehicle production from 1.7 lakh units currently to 3.2 lakh units by 2030.
The inauguration ceremony took place on 14th October, 2026, in the presence of Devendra Fadnavis (CM Maharashtra), Euisun Chung (Hyundai Motor Group Executive Chair), and Jose Munoz (Hyundai Motor Company President)
Investment & Production Capacity
The new Talegaon plant also houses an engine manufacturing unit, which has an annual production capacity of 1.5 lakh units. With this new plant, Hyundai’s combined annual production capacity is said to reach 11.4 lakh units by 2030. This move is intended to push the brand's manufacturing capacity as the brand develops its domestic and export operations.
During the event, the spokesperson clarified that the said Rs 11,000 crore investment is planned in multiple phases.
As per the latest media reports, the Hyundai Venue facelift will be produced exclusively at the Talegaon plant. It is also being said that all vehicles produced at this facility will also be exported to international markets, as the brand plans to expand its horizons and the availability of the Hyundai Venue in over 35 countries.
The Talegaon plant is an integral part of Hyundai’s new export operation from India. Hyundai also marked its collective export of 40 lakh passenger vehicles since 1999. However, the actual export volume is dependent on the production schedule and demand across individual markets.
Digital Manufacturing and New Technology
Hyundai’s new Talegaon plant will make use of the brand’s E-Forest digital factory platform for production monitoring and quality control.
This system uses AI as a key tool to monitor quality inspections, predictive maintenance, digital simulations, and augmented reality-based training for workers. This system is intended to support manufacturing processes and quality management. However, the operational impact will strictly depend on how this new tech is deployed across production lines as output increases.
The new plant also adds another location to HMI’s existing operation in South India. Its long-term impact depends on how and when the plant reaches its production capacity. As of now, it signifies just another manufacturing unit focused on the production and export of Hyundai’s lesser-known sub-compact SUV, the Hyundai Venue
