Maruti Suzuki Baleno vs Toyota Glanza: Performance, Features and Price

Maruti Suzuki Baleno and Toyota Glanza are top-shelf hatchbacks that share the same platform and powerplant, but with different exterior styling and branding. The 2026 version features a new petrol motor, extra comfort enhancements and advanced driver assistance systems. The petrol and CNG variants of both models are offered. Let's compare their performance, features and prices.

Performance

The 2026 Maruti Suzuki Baleno gets its power from a new 1.2-litre, three-cylinder petrol engine with about 83 PS (124 bhp) and 112.4 Nm of torque. It comes with a 5-speed Manual Transmissions and 5-speed Auto Gear Shift (AGS) transmission. The manual variant claimed fuel efficiency of 23.80 km/l while the AGS variant claimed 24.77 km/l. A CNG option is also available at the factory level, which boosts the power to around 70 PS and torque to 102 Nm.

The three-cylinder Z12E petrol engine, which provides around 83 PS and 112.4 Nm of torque, is the same as was used in the Toyota Glanza. There's also a 5-speed manual transmission and a 5-speed automatic manual transmission (AMT). The petrol variants boast a fuel efficiency of 23.80 km/l in automatic and 24.77 km/l in manual transmission. The CNG variant comes as a standard option in the factory and delivers around 70 PS and 101.8 Nm of torque, while the manual and AMT models are offered on select variants.

The engines are about the same and claimed fuel economy is about the same in both hatchbacks. Their Petrol and CNG versions are well suited for daily city driving and the AMT versions offer clutch-free driving convenience in traffic.

Features: Safety and Comfort

The Baleno has a 9-inch SmartPlay Pro+ touchscreen infotainment system, which supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Other features include a 360-degree camera, automatic climate control and connected-car technology as well as cooled wireless charger and ventilated front seats. It's fitted with six airbags, electronic stability control, a tyre-pressure monitoring system and, on the top option, a Level 2 ADAS system for safety.

The Glanza also features a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless smartphone connectivity, ventilated front seats, a head-up display and a 360-degree camera with a cooled wireless charger. Other equipment options consist of automatic climate control, rear AC vents, leather-wrapped steering wheel, connected-car options and more. Safety features are six airbags, vehicle stability control and tyre-pressure monitoring system, plus Level 2 ADAS in the specification top model.

This is due to the cars having a lot in common in terms of their functionality, as much of the hardware is shared. The primary differences lie in the exterior design, interior colour schemes, variants and the ownership and servicing by the different manufacturers.

Price

The Maruti Suzuki Baleno's price is expected to range from around ₹5.99 lakh to ₹9.99 lakh (ex-showroom) across different variants and drive trains.

The price range of Toyota Glanza is ₹6.99 lakh to ₹10.98 lakh (ex-showroom). The price range is higher than that of Baleno, but the available equipment and transmission varies according to variant.

The prices are tentative and may change, so for the latest variant-wise prices please check with the manufacturers.
